Mowery & Schoenfeld is seeking ambitious and curious tax professionals to join our team in Makati City. This opportunity is open to candidates at different experience levels, with the final title and responsibilities determined by the candidate’s background.

The U.S. Tax Accountant will support a variety of tax engagements and work closely with colleagues in both the Philippines and the United States. The ideal candidate has experience preparing U.S. tax returns, strong attention to detail, and an interest in continuing to develop within public accounting.

This is an on-site position based in our Makati office and is not available as a remote role.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and review U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns based on experience level
  • Support tax engagements involving individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates
  • Prepare tax workpapers, supporting schedules, book-to-tax adjustments, estimates, and extensions
  • Review financial information for completeness and accuracy
  • Identify missing information, discrepancies, and potential tax issues
  • Research tax questions and clearly document findings
  • Assist with tax planning, projections, and responses to tax notices
  • Communicate with U.S.-based team members regarding engagement progress, questions, and outstanding information
  • Use professional tax software and research tools to complete assigned work
  • Manage multiple engagements while meeting quality standards and deadlines
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client, tax, and financial information
  • Take on additional preparation, review, and client-support responsibilities based on experience

Job Requirements

We are seeking someone who is curious, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, or another relevant discipline
  • Previous experience preparing U.S. tax returns
  • Public accounting experience is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with common U.S. individual and business tax forms
  • Philippine CPA designation is preferred but not required
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using professional tax preparation or research software is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities during deadline periods
  • Willingness and ability to work full-time from the Makati office

Candidates may be considered for Tax Associate, Senior Tax Associate, Tax Supervisor, or another appropriate level based on their experience and technical background.
